ABOUT | LYN WAIT
I am a mixed media artist. My work uses sculpture, performance, costume, myself and other people. A work is often set within a rural environment that initiates responses to that specific place and history. Primary mediums include found and made objects, film, clay, drawing and photographic imagery. A real or metaphorical journey, a reference to still life or an illustration may be part of such work and exposition can be a gallery or site specific. I often work collaboratively with other artists and volunteers.
Significant early works include: Horse and Rider, Men on the Terrace, TURF, CASTLE, and The Palindromedome. I participated in Selfscapes 2019 with COAT at Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire. I am a member of the AHH (Art Happens Here) Studio Collective, Malton, North Yorkshire. Recent work with AHH includes Sunrise, Sunset and Objects round a Lamp displayed at The Crescent, Scarborough. Work in progress includes KAYAK sponsored by Forestry England and Ryedale District Council at Dalby Forest and a new work, Talking Adders is also planned.
I have a BA in Ceramics from Central St. Martins, London, and an MA in Fine Art from University of Leeds.
