My work reflects an enthusiasm for drawing and the performing arts. Initially trained as a ceramicist with skills in architectural clay relief modelling, I am interested in the humour inherent in making art and how heritage shapes and is influenced by different perceptions. Current work involves combining costume and place. For example using crochet, with its echo of traditional making for domestic use, as a drawing tool. This new work will use performance, installation and collaboration to explore the relationships between craft skills and ideas of what may be perceived as ‘non skills’. My experience of working within a ceramic craft tradition inform the work and ideas of things past and to come, speed of growth, altered environments and interactions of time and place. Enabling glimpses between stages of development, of change and decay and the inevitability of the unfinished - raising the question ‘how much further do I go?’ See LYNARTWORK for commissions and community arts projects.
