This archive presents a sample of work over thirty years.

After graduating from Central School of Art & Design I worked as a ceramicist for 12 years in London, Sussex, Spain and York and then as an architectural modeller. Using clay in this way introduced me to difference in scale, the relationship between three and two dimensional work and working in relief. After an MA in Fine Art at Leeds I began to explore ideas about the environment, society and responsibility and considerations about the validity of making and not making.

The works presented here use various media but collectively they do often reflect my interest in the theatrical and the formalities of making traditions. There is often a reliance on the illustrative seen to begin in the earlier ceramic pieces and reoccurring in different forms to the present.

Most recently I have experimented with a wider vocabulary of resources while incorporating my other complementary arts experiences. Nowadays this includes the design and co-ordination of performances for community-based theatrical pieces. This influences my own projects, and spans planning, orchestration, collaboration and participation.

My work has always reflected multiple and changing roles whether as artist, or as family member, stepping in and out and back towards art practice. All roles are connected. They inform and affect the next step. Currently I see this as being to do with where I live, how I perceive myself and how this impacts upon me as an artist and how in turn as an artist I impact on my environment.
